Corso di Tazhib, L'arte della doratura

8 November 2017 from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Spazio Nour.

Spazio Nour's cultural offer is expanding: TAZHIB classes, also known as Persian vectors, are coming!

What is TAZHIB?

The word tazhib, derived from the Arabic word zahab (lit. 'gold'), means 'gilding'. The practice of tazhib consists of creating splendid geometric patterns, often of floral inspiration, to accompany the pages of cultural, religious, philosophical and scientific texts. In ancient times, the use of gold was motivated by the need to give light to the pages of such texts: the recent addition of colours such as turquoise, vermilion, green or blue embellishes the composition and enriches the final result.

THE COURSE

The course will begin on Wednesday 8 November from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Spazio Nour and will last for a total of four lessons during which the Iranian artist Mahmoud Saleh Mohammadi will introduce you to the delicate art of tazhib. During the course you will learn more about the technique, its meaning and history. However, it is also possible to attend a single lesson. No specific materials are required.
